Lore(n)
Thank you for coming to my website. Thank you for observing my art.
Darkroom Daniel was born from an old darkroom enlarger I found on FB marketplace and fixed up. What started as a hobby in film photography and darkroom printing turned into a hobby of looking closely, which then organically devolved into painting.
I worked night shift for most of my 20s, and draw a lot of inspiration from that lifestyle. I fell in love with the liminality of 24-hour laundromats. I spent many of my off-hours hiking in the dark.
There’s a natural surrealism to being somewhere you should be somewhen you shouldn’t. Subjects and shadows that prefer to be live in eye-corners at most are caught in the headlights of a viewer whose presence was not expected. I’m gladdened every time this resonates with someone - I’ll say it again: Thank you for coming to my website, thank you for observing my art.
